Company History

Our Story

1964

The Metrix Company was founded in Dubuque, Iowa in 1964 as Riggs Biochemical, a company that serviced the agricultural sector and pioneered fetal bovine blood collection bags, which we still produce today for customers around the world. Our mastery of RF welding and reputation for quality led us to expand into manufacturing medical devices in the 1980s, where we continued to grow.

1988

In 1988, Metrix broke ground on our current headquarters and domestic manufacturing facility in Dubuque, Iowa.

1996

The Metrix Company acquired Secure® Medical Products in 1996. It remains our flagship brand, widely recognized for quality and reliability, and we continue to expand the product portfolio with the addition of new medical bags and accessories.

2001

Our second manufacturing facility, Metrix Dominicana, opened in 2001 in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, providing an overlap with our complete line of services, expanding our production capacity and offering a more cost-competitive option for high-volume projects.

2002

In 2002, The Metrix Company updated the Quality System to meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – Medical Devices Quality Management Systems ISO 13485. The Metrix Company and Metrix Dominicana are both FDA registered, ISO 13485-certified, and each offers a ISO Class 8 manufacturing environment.
